Dean Owens

Current research Current research 2

• Introduction   The main concern of my work is the process of drawing. It is within the methodology of overdrawing, that I try to forge a link between the internal and the external. Re occurring themes run through my work including the family, relationship, and the human condition.

 • Current research   I am currently engaged in a study of sleep. The first half of my life was spent mostly asleep. I was planning the second half to be mainly similar, until – predictably – the birth of my first-born son. With the joy and excitement that comes with such an occasion also comes the lack of sleep and a newly formed relationship with the early hours of the morning. Sleep, something that until this moment had never been a problem, has become front and centre of my world.   Other research activities are in self-publishing (Red Beak Press) and the publishing of the illustrated book.
